Leather Therapy Makes Leather Behave...Beautifully

What Makes a Quality Leather Cleaner?

At the microscopic level, leather is made up of a tangled mass of fine root-like fibres. These fibres are held together with protein bonds—keeping those protein bonds lubricated and supple is the key to keeping leather strong. If those bonds dry out completely, they shrink, become brittle and break. Once broken, they cannot be mended and the leather is permanently weakened. Leather damage usually starts from the inside out, and by the time you can see it as visible cracks, the leather’s strength is badly compromised.

The pH balance is vital in leather care. Leather, with its lower pH, is acidic, but many conditioners and cleaners on the market are surprisingly alkaline. Alkaline cleaning products react with the natural acidity of leather fibres in a harmful way, which leads to deterioration of the leather. A quality leather cleaner like Leather Therapy is pH neutral and won’t alter the natural pH of leather.

A quality leather cleaner like Leather Therapy won’t leave a soapy scum or residue behind, and nor will it darken leather or leave greasy spots that encourage mould or mildew.

And a quality leather cleaner like Leather Therapy penetrates deeply to the innards of the leather, nourishing it thoroughly throughout.

Leather Therapy Wash

Leather Therapy Wash safely and effectively deep cleans even the toughest grime problem without hardening or darkening leather. Concentrated micro-suds lift out embedded dirt leaving leather clean with a wonderfully soft feel.
• Beneficial lubricants help keep your leather strong and supple
• There’s no need to rinse out. Just wipe straight off
• There’s no residual build-up in stitching areas to attract mould or mildew or look unsightly
• Your original leather colour is enhanced
• White leather is safely cleaned
• Biodegradable and earth friendly

It is strongly recommended that Leather Therapy Wash be used in combination with Leather Therapy Restorer and Conditioner (below). This is because Wash cleans the leather on the outside, while Restorer and Conditioner nourishes and lubricates the leather from the inside by replacing the natural lubricating oils leather needs to stay supple and strong, but which are gradually lost with time. If leather is not regularly conditioned and new oils introduced to replace those that are lost, the leather will eventually dry out. The damage this causes goes on out of sight beneath the surface until one day cracks appear. It is important to clean the outside of the leather first with Wash to remove embedded dirt and grime before applying any conditioner—conditioner soaks in deeply and you do not want to drag in the dirt as well.

It is strongly recommended that Leather Therapy Restorer and Conditioner be used in combination with Leather Therapy Wash (above). This is because while Wash cleans the leather on the outside, Restorer and Conditioner is needed to nourish and lubricate the leather from the inside. Restorer and Conditioner works by replacing the natural lubricating oils leather needs to stay supple and strong, but which are gradually lost with time. If leather is not regularly conditioned and new oils introduced to replace those that are lost, the leather will eventually dry out. The damage this causes goes on out of sight beneath the surface until one day cracks appear. Leather Therapy Water Repellant

Leather Therapy Water Repellant protects leather, suede and nubuck from water, wine, tea, coffee, dirt, mud and salt. It will not change the colour, gloss, feel or breathability of leather and there are no silicones, waxes, oils or hydrocarbons. Unlike Finish, the repellant will not make the leather look shiny. If anything it tends to give the leather a more matt finish so is best not used on anything you want to look glossy.
